The Dissident Voice article needs to find a home where I can keep it accessible (thank goodness for the Web).
Free or inexpensive good public education and universally accessible free and / or inexpensive health care are two of the central elements of an effective human society. Policies and change in directions away from this are retrogressive.
Without an unrelenting focus on these issues and basic rights, such as to organize and dissent, labour is dissipating any populist energy it may have acquired over the years.
How labor lost its power to represent labor is an important question, which few seem to remember to ask. Is it the case that in order to even represent something within the corporate/capital frame, one must be a ringer?
